Dear Delegates,
Welcome to Economic and Social Councils! Be prepared for a weekend of dynamic debate and discussion as you delve into the world that is NAIMUN XLIX. This will be an unforgettable weekend of learning, discovery, and friendship as 3,000 elite delegates from around the world converge in the city of Washington D.C. As the most diverse organ of the conference, ECOSOCs is very excited to be offering an array of engaging committees incorporating both the variety and flexibility of smaller specialized agencies, in addition to hosting the superb traditional debate and caucusing of a General Assembly.
This year ECOSOCs is pleased to be home to six superb committees with incredibly talented dais leadership. Delegates will take on the roles of Members of Parliament in the British House of Commons, tackling real surmounting issues facing the United Kingdom. In the World Health Organization, members will work to resolve issues of international health, tasked with challenges facing the different populations around the world. The United Nations Human Rights Council and the Executive Committee of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will simulate the real intergovernmental organizations allowing delegates to shape policy and reforms in these critical agencies. As the apex networking and service delivery body for developmental programming, the Ad-Hoc Summit of NGOs will provide delegates a unique and exciting conference experience. Finally, representatives in the International Atomic Energy Agency will address and debate topics surrounding nuclear power, as well as conflicts and consequences seen on the world stage. We are confident each committee will exceed expectation and prove to be a memorable and fantastic experience for all.
Because of its versatility and potential for creativity, the ECOSOCs organ is sure to be both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating for delegates. Our array of committees will cover all types of issues and incorporate both traditional and innovative crisis elements. We are confident that once again ECOSOCs will be one of the many high points of NAIMUN. Please feel free to come to us with any questions you might have. We look forward to seeing everyone in February!
