Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Economic and Social Councils! We are both privileged and excited to be serving as your Under Secretary-General and Deputy Under Secretary-General for NAIMUN XLVIII, and we look forward to a phenomenal conference.

Thanks to the recent renovations at the Hilton, this year in particular we really have the opportunity to expand ECOSOCS, adding several exciting new committees alongside the popular staples of our organ. Representing more traditional ECOSOC committees, we will have the UN Development Program; the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization; and the World Health Organization. These larger committees will be worked into new frameworks, encompassing crisis elements and other engaging components.

New to ECOSOCS this year will be the Iranian Expediency Council, the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, and the International Press Forum. These will function as smaller committees, focusing on pertinent topical issues. We will also continue last year’s successful and innovative NGO Forum, expanding the capabilities of this committee to engage with committees throughout every organ of NAIMUN.

With a greater number of committees this year, ECOSOCs continues to grow as a strong and interesting part of the NAIMUN conference. It is our hope that the growth of the organ will contribute to the personal and intellectual growth of our delegates, and we sincerely look forward to seeing you all in February!
