Dear Delegates,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to General Assemblies at NAIMUN LI! We hope you’re as excited as we are to be a part of NAIMUN as it enters the second half of a century of excellence. We pride ourselves on being NAIMUN’s largest organ, with over 1700 delegates, and promise challenging debates, engaging caucuses and the most demanding and stimulating environments possible. As a delegate, you will be forced to address complex questions while building leadership skills, developing your writing and speaking abilities, and creating lasting friendships. It is our belief that there is no better location for debate on international affairs than here in Washington DC. You will be given the opportunity to explore global issues just miles away from where leaders and policymakers are hard at work addressing many of these very same problems. We hope you find this year’s GAs to be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
This year, GAs will feature three excellent additions to the traditional repertoire. The WHO will give delegates the ability to debate issues related to public health and health policy in the typical GA fashion. Next, the Tunisian Constituent Assembly will allow delegates to rewrite the Tunisian constitution in an effort to form a more perfect government after the turmoil of the Arab Spring. Finally the French National Assembly will bring delegates back to 1789 in a time of great turmoil for the French Revolution. In addition, our traditional General Assembly bodies of DISEC, SOCHUM, SPECPOL, and LEGAL will be covering some of the most interesting and relevant topics being discussed in international politics today.
Our experienced and dedicated staff is once again committed to immersing you in a fast-paced, engrossing committee environment that will allow you to explore current discourse about international issues. Technology will also play an increasing role in committees this year, allowing delegates to continue the debate outside of the committee room and to get more familiar with their fellow delegates. In committee, technology will provide a secondary platform to supplement traditional debate, where delegates will be able to engage the discussion on new levels. As NAIMUN looks toward the future, we hope to continue providing an enjoyable and engaging conference for you, and look forward to meeting you all in February!
