Programming & Special Events

NAIMUN offers a broad range of out-of-committee activities designed to enhance the delegate experience. We focus on providing educational, real-world programs that are unique to Washington D.C. and immerse the delegates in the world of international relations.

Washington D.C.

Embassy Briefings
In the world of international relations, there are few places more central than Washington D.C. While at the conference delegates can take advantage of its amazing location to visit one of the hundreds of embassies in teh arena and attend an information session about current international issues. There's even a chance they'll meet their committee counterpart in real life!

Pentagon and Capitol Hill Tours
Located just outside of D.C. in Arlington, VA, the Pentagon is the headquarters of the US Department of Defense and the symbol of the US military. Take a tour of one of the largest office  buildings in the world with three times the floor space of the Empire State Building to learn about the mission of the DoD and its role in ensuring our national security. You can also visit the historic Capitol Building, the home of the House of Representatives and the Senate and the seat of policy-making in the United States. It's one of the most recognizable buildings in the world and a must-see for anyone visiting Washington D.C.

Georgetown Tours
Come visit Georgetown University's campus, the oldest Catholic University in the nation. Take a picture in front of the iconic Healy Hall  and learn about the diverse  opportunities that Georgetown offers; everything from our Center for Social Justice to the Mask and Bauble Theater Company, and even our very own top-ranked collegiate Model UN team. Keep your eyes peeled and you might even catch a glimpse of our beloved mascot, Jack the Bulldog!

Museums and Monuments
D.C. has the distinction of being home to the monuments of some of the great sharpers of our nation.
Visit the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials all in a day, and still have time to see the brand-new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. You can also spend time in one of the Smithsonian's 19 museums and experience the worlds largest museum and research center. Even better, admission is free!

Dupont Circle
NAIMUN's neighborhood is full of fun restaurants and boutique shops to explore during your free time.

At the Conference

Speakers
Committees have the opportunity to host a specialist from a field relevant  to their topic, often ambassadors or policy makers, to speak with the delegates about the realities of international relations. This allows the delegates an exciting opportunity to see how the debates and decision they are making in committee are mirrored in the real world.

Hilltop Madness
Become a Hoya! Experience the high-energy fun of Georgetown's finest performing arts groups, from ballroom dancers to a Capella groups. Get a taste of life as a Hoya and experience Georgetown's hospitality while enjoying a night of singing, dancing, and free ice cream!

For the first time, NAIMUN is organizing a competition for a delegate performance at Hilltop Madness.  Delegates, if your delegation wants to perform as an ensemble, or if you are interested in performing solo, please send an email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. Delegate Dance
NAIMUN encourages delegates to get to know each other out of committee. Social events, like Saturday night's delegate dance, allow delegates  the chance to meet and mingle with their peers from across the country and around the world. Besides, you never know when that out-of-committee friend will come in handy in writing resolutions!

Each and every aspect and feature of NAIMUN LI is geared toward providing our delegates with the most exciting and fulfilling experiences, and we're confident that NAIMUN weekend will be a highlight in your school year.
