Five years ago NAIMUN launched its scholarship program that represented a key element in our efforts to further the cultural and socio-economic diversity at our conference. NAIMUN XLIX introduced an even more comprehensive financial aid program to assist schools with the heavy burden of traveling to the conference and staying at the Washington Hilton. At NAIMUN LI, we look forward to further expanding these two programs, which together form the core of NAIMUN and the Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc. (GIRA)'s commitment to making the international relations education programs we offer as accessible as possible.
NAIMUN Scholarship
The NAIMUN student scholarship program is a step forward in making NAIMUN accessible to a wider range of high school students across the United States. We will award three $250 scholarships and five $150 scholarships to delegates who are unable to attend NAIMUN due to financial constraints and who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and financial need. This program embodies the commitment of NAIMUN and GIRA to providing delegates a high quality Model United Nations conference while simultaneously increasing access to our conference.
At the bottom of the page, you will find the scholarship application, moderator recommendation form, and more details regarding the application and selection processes. NAIMUNAid
Additionally, this year we are offering a comprehensive financial aid package, NAIMUNAid, to schools in order to give entire delegations in financial need the opportunity to be a part of our conference. At the bottom of the page, you can find the NAIMUN Fundraising Guide and Financial Aid packet attached. Inside you will find information about how to raise money for your delegation's trip to NAIMUN along with the financial aid application.
As all of our financial aid money comes from the donations of generous sponsors, we cannot guarantee that all applicants will receive the amount requested. Therefore, those delegations that have shown their desire to attend our conference through fundraising efforts and have demonstrated need will be given priority. Please note the instructions inside the financial aid document and follow the listed procedures very carefully. There are numerous components to the financial aid application, including a separate terms of agreement for consideration. Please note that all financial aid applications are due no later than October 12, 2013.
NAIMUN Alumni Scholarship
In the spirit of NAIMUN's newly expanded philanthropic program, we are proud to continue the NAIMUN Alumni Scholarship, which will support the higher education of one high school senior NAIMUN delegate. Funded through the generous donations of NAIMUN Staff alumni, we hope that the NAIMUN Alumni Scholarship will not only improve our aid-giving efforts but also allow NAIMUN to have the kind of positive influence on a delegate’s life that extends far beyond that of an ordinary four-day conference. For a more comprehensive description of the scholarship, application process, and how to donate, please download the respective document below. The application and moderator recommendation form for the NAIMUN Alumni Scholarship are also available below. Please note that all application materials are due no later than January 1, 2014.
On behalf of the entire staff and secretariat of NAIMUN LI, we wish all delegations and delegates luck throughout the process!
