Ad hoc Committee of the Secretary-General

APPROXIMATE COMMITTEE SIZE: 25 delegates

The Ad hoc Committee of the Secretary-General at NAIMUN brings the most competitive crisis delegates from around the world together to compete in a specially designed simulation that combines fast-paced and exciting crises with the added element of a surprise topic. To provide an additional challenge and truly test the depth and breadth of delegates’ MUN skills, the topic for this committee will be withheld until the first committee session. Accept the challenge of the Ad hoc and come compete at the highest stage in North America—the world is waiting.

The Ad hoc Committee is a fast-paced crisis committee that attracts competitive delegates, and it is recommended that all delegates have previous experience in crisis committees.

Note: Unlike in other crisis committees, technology will be allowed in the Ad Hoc committee at the chair's discretion. Additionally, delegates in the Ad hoc committee do not need to submit a position paper.

About the Chair

Patty Robben is a member of the Walsh School of Foreign Service Class of 2025, majoring in Regional & Comparative Studies with a concentration in Latin America and minoring in Spanish & Linguistics. She is from Minnesota, where she first discovered Model UN as a freshman in high school and immediately fell in love. It could be said that Patty has committed a tad too much time to Model UN during her time at Georgetown. In addition to chairing for NAIMUN since her freshman year, Patty has previously served as the Chief of Staff for NCSC LI, NAIMUN’s sister collegiate conference, and has traveled across the country competing with Georgetown’s Model UN team. Beyond the world of Model UN, Patty loves spending time reminding everyone about the merits of the Midwest, sharing about how studying abroad in Ecuador changed her, going on runs, and taking much-needed naps. She is so excited to end her Model UN career strong running the Ad hoc committee with her good friend Miranda and looks forward to meeting everyone soon!
