NAIMUN LXIV Theme: Empower Excellence
Our theme for NAIMUN LXIV is “Empower Excellence.” After fleshing out our visions and goals for this year’s conference, we have chosen a theme that we believe best encapsulates our goals for the conference and how we will be pushing NAIMUN beyond its limits. Model UN is one of the few activities that can develop students’ research, debate, and cooperation skills all in one. Our goal is for delegates to take what they have learned and apply it to every aspect of their life. The energy spent researching and compromising their resolutions should be the same energy they put into their other commitments and utilize in their educational and professional careers. We hope that our committees and programming will empower delegates to become leaders in their communities and take an active role in solving global challenges.
our theme in committee
As conference execs, we strive to provide delegates with an in-committee experience unique to the Model UN circuit. NAIMUN prides itself on curating committees that are informative, unique, and fun; we hope each delegate leaves their last committee session having learned something new, and feeling empowered in their public speaking, debate, and collaboration skills. Committee sessions are where delegates sharpen their ideas through debate and learn to compromise to create new solutions to build a better future. Committee speakers invited to speak during committee sessions also give delegates a chance to engage with someone actively involved in the topic. Said speakers show delegates why the topics they debate matter and reinforce our commitment to empowering delegates to become future leaders.
Our Theme Out of Committee
Outside of the committee room, NAIMUN LXIV will empower our delegates to be their very best throughout conference weekend. Through our commitment to financial accessibility, we hope to ensure that delegates from across the world are able to participate in this incredible learning experience without worrying about the cost. Furthermore our Model UN training materials, especially our TIPS sessions, are designed to help delegates feel prepared to participate in NAIMUN regardless of their previous experience. In this manner, we hope to empower delegates to focus entirely on committee content throughout the weekend, and perform to the absolute best of their ability.
Additionally, NAIMUN LXIV provides numerous out-of-committee educational opportunities during the conference weekend that we hope delegates will take advantage of, to take their in-conference experience into the real world. On Thursday afternoons, delegates are encouraged to attend MUN 101, where they can learn Parliamentary and Crisis Committee procedures from our Secretary-General, Director General, and USGs. Furthermore, during Friday Morning Programming, delegates have the unique opportunity to explore Washington D.C.’s best embassies and tourist destinations. And to top it all off, NAIMUN LXIV will continue its tradition of partnering with a non-profit organization. Delegates are encouraged to buy CandyGrams, attend the Saturday Social Justice Event, and engage in conversation with our NGO partners about the non-profit and philanthropy experience. We hope these experiences will empower our delegates to take what they have learned in committee and start thinking about how they want to apply their ideas in the real world– we hope that our programming opportunities will inspire delegates to commit themselves and their skills to making the world a better place!
Empower Excellence beyond NAIMUN
As a conference, NAIMUN is designed to be a catalyst for delegates, empowering their growth and transformation. Our goal is to integrate this theme into our substantive quality, philanthropy, and programming to develop students’ passion for diplomacy. We hope the conference provides delegates with memorable experiences, stimulates their critical thinking, and provides them with useful skills beyond the conference. At the end of the day, NAIMUN is so much more than a Model UN conference. It is an opportunity for delegates to explore the world and engage with a diverse array of communities and perspectives–a feature unique to the scale and quality of NAIMUN, and one that prepares delegates to excel in their careers and change the world around them. Beyond the four days at the Washington Hilton, we recognize that the delegates who attend NAIMUN will go on to become the next generation of leaders in science, politics, media, and so many other fields. No matter the path, NAIMUN prides itself on the role it plays in empowering delegates to design excellent solutions and providing a forum for them to excel on the national, or world, stage.
