OVERVIEW
mid-sized general assembly-style committees (100-160 delegates)
Economic & Social Councils (ECOSOCs) are mid-sized General Assembly-style committees which simulate national bodies, regional organizations, UN conventions, and other commissions of similar size. These committees, which contain between 80 and 160 delegates, primarily focus on economic, social, and cultural issues. In ECOSOCs, delegates represent countries, ministers, or members of parliament, and seek to craft cooperative resolutions to pressing global and regional issues.

About David
David Volonte is a member of the Class of 2029 in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown. He is from West New York, New Jersey (yes, really), and is always happy to explain what makes his home state so great.
David attended his first Model United Nations conference in fifth grade and participated competitively throughout middle and high school. Since coming to Georgetown, he has served on the Secretariat for the Georgetown International Relations Association’s local branch and has staffed five MUN conferences, including a trip to Chengdu, China in February 2026. He also had a fantastic time chairing a Joint Crisis Committee on the Punic Wars at NAIMUN LXIII, which inspired him to join the NAIMUN LXIV Secretariat.
Outside of MUN, you’ll probably find David hanging out with friends, eating a chicken Caesar wrap from Epi’s, and/or reminiscing about his study abroad experience in Taiwan. David is thrilled to serve as Under-Secretary-General for ECOSOCs at NAIMUN LXIV and can’t wait to help make this year’s conference an unforgettable experience!
About meera
Meera Pendse is a member of the class of 2029 in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Economics and Mathematics with a minor in Science, Technology, and International Affairs. She hails from frigid Boston, Massachusetts - Go Pats!
Meera has been involved in Model UN since middle school, so she is going on 6 years of international affairs and diplomacy! She has competed in and staffed conferences at the high school and collegiate level, and it was her amazing experience being a Crisis Analyst in NAIMUN LXIII that encouraged her to apply to Secretariat.
When she’s not working on Model UN, Meera advises international non-profit executives with Georgetown Global Consulting, dances for philanthropy with Rangila, and works as an intern for Hatch. In her free time, she loves exploring new places in DC, spending too much money on exercise classes, and forcing her friends to read her favorite books.
Meera is grateful and honored to be your USG of ECOSOC this year and can’t wait to see you in what’s sure to be the best NAIMUN yet!
