NAIMUN Training and Interactive Program with the Secretariat (TIPS)

NAIMUN LXIV is excited to announce that sign-ups for the first three weeks of the Training and Interactive Program with the Secretariat (TIPS) are now open! TIPS is a virtual Model UN curriculum available at no cost to all high school students, regardless of whether they are attending NAIMUN. As part of NAIMUN’s effort to be an accessible conference for students of all levels of MUN experience, we are proud to offer TIPS as a unique platform for students to learn MUN and further develop their skills. Designed in collaboration with Georgetown’s #1 ranked Model UN team, TIPS allows students around the world to come to NAIMUN with a deeper understanding of MUN procedure.

Members of the NAIMUN Secretariat will conduct TIPS, providing a comprehensive overview of key aspects of MUN, facilitating interactive simulations, and offering feedback to participants. No prior Model UN experience is required to participate in TIPS, and students do not need to sign up for all sessions; instead, they can sign up for whichever sessions suit their level of MUN experience. Individual students and full delegations are both welcome to attend.

Upon signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with a Zoom link.

We will be releasing the sign-up link for our weeks of sessions in batches. The schedule for weeks 1-3 is as follows:

  1. Week 1 (October 5th - October 11th): Introduction to Model UN

    This week’s trainings will cover parliamentary procedure, committee structure and flow, and other Model UN fundamentals to prepare new delegates for conference weekend.

  2. Week 2 (October 12th - October 18th): Introduction to General Assemblies and Economic & Social Councils

    This week’s trainings will cover General Assembly committee structure and flow, working papers, draft resolutions, caucusing, bloc-building, and other basics for General Assembly committees and Economic and Social Councils. Participants will be able to simulate General Assembly-style speeches and receive real-time feedback.

  3. Week 3 (October 19th - October 25th): Introduction to Crisis

    This week’s trainings will cover introductory crisis information, including directive cycles, crisis updates, crisis arcs, and other crisis fundamentals. Participants will be able to simulate a response to a crisis update and receive real-time feedback.

Please note: each week's workshop is repeated at every available time that week; for example, all of the sessions held during week 1 are Introduction to Model UN. Therefore, students only need to sign up for one session each week. Additionally, Multiple delegations may sign up for the same session.
