Forum for East Asia-Latin American Cooperation (FEALAC)

APPROXIMATE COMMITTEE SIZE: 55 double DELEGATIONS

The Forum for East Asia-Latin American Cooperation is a regional organization connecting states from East and Southeast Asia to Latin America and the Caribbean with the intent to form an official space for dialogue and cooperation. Topic A is the future of rare earth mineral mining. Both regions are heavily involved in the processing and extraction of rare earth minerals, including graphite, nickel, manganese, and more. These materials are key ingredients in batteries, petroleum refinement, defense capabilities, and technological device development. FEALAC must foster international dialogue between the two regions to strike a balance between the appropriate mining and usage of these minerals to benefit respective nations’ economies and development. Topic B is small enterprise and industry development. By encouraging the growth of small enterprises, countries across East Asia and Latin America will benefit from job creation and economic stimulation.
