NAIMUN Training and Interactive Program with the Secretariat (TIPS)

NAIMUN LXII is excited to announce that sign-ups for the first three weeks of the Training and Interactive Program with the Secretariat (TIPS) are now open! TIPS is an eight-week virtual Model UN curriculum available at no cost to all high school students, regardless of whether they are attending NAIMUN. As part of NAIMUN’s effort to be an accessible conference for students of all levels of MUN experience, we are proud to offer TIPS as a unique platform for students to learn MUN and further develop their skills. Designed in collaboration with Georgetown’s top-ranked Model UN team, TIPS allows students around the world to come to NAIMUN with a deeper understanding of MUN procedure.

TIPS will be conducted by members of the NAIMUN Secretariat, who will comprehensively overview key aspects of MUN, facilitate interactive simulations, and provide feedback to participants. No prior experience in Model UN is required to participate in TIPS, and students do not need to sign up for all eight sessions; rather, students can sign up for whichever sessions suit their level of MUN experience. Individual students and full delegations are both welcome to attend.

Upon signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with a Zoom link. If none of the times listed above work for you, please do not hesitate to reach out to Secretary-General Jasmine Yazid at naimunsg@modelun.org.

We will be releasing the signup link for our eight weeks of sessions in batches. The schedule for weeks 7-8 is as follows:

  1. Week 7 (January 20th - January 26th): Advanced General Assemblies and Economic & Social Councils

This week’s trainings will cover more complex aspects of General Assembly-style committees, including author's panels, Q&A, merging, amendments, and bloc leadership. Note: Students should have basic knowledge of General Assembly procedure to participate; we strongly encourage participants to attend Introduction to Model UN (week 1) and Introduction to General Assemblies and Economic & Social Councils (week 2) before this session.

  2. Week 8 (January 27th - February 2nd): Advanced Crisis

This week’s trainings will discuss joint personal directives, bloc-building in crisis, strategies to balance in-room and out-of-room performance, and other more complex techniques for crisis committees. This session will also cover joint crisis committees, including NAIMUN's five-way National Security Apparatus. Note: Students should have basic knowledge of crisis procedure to participate; we strongly encourage participants to attend Introduction to Model UN (week 1) and Introduction to Crisis (week 3) before this session.

You can sign up for a TIPS session at this link:  https://zcal.co/naimun/tips

Please note: each week's workshop is repeated at every available time that week; for example, all of the sessions held during week 1 are Introduction to Model UN. Therefore, students only need to sign up for one session each week. Additionally, Multiple delegations may sign up for the same session. Each session is capped at 19 attendees.

If you have any questions about TIPS, please email Secretary-General Jasmine Yazid at naimunsg@modelun.org. We hope to see you there!
