Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS)
APPROXIMATE COMMITTEE SIZE: 80 Double DELEGATIONS
The Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States is a group of nations dedicated to ensuring sustainable development and poverty reduction within its member states, as well as greater integration into the world economy. The organization focuses on a wide range of regional issues and is representative of over 1.5 billion people worldwide. It focuses on human and social development, climate change, resilience building, and private sector development. Many small island and developing states are members of the OACPS system and beneficiaries of its robust economic and trade network. This year, Topic A is ensuring food security through the development of sustainable agriculture and fisheries. These sectors contribute a significant portion of national GDPs, yet their current management is contributing to unstable development and worsening environmental concerns. Topic B is the promotion of human capital development, particularly in fragile states. This committee must find a way to navigate institutional capacity building to support human development in the midst of vulnerable conditions.
Chairs: Roma Jha & Natalie Goldwasser

Roma Jha is a member of the class of 2026 in Georgetown’s School of Health. Studying Healthcare Management and Policy, she is interested in the intersection of health, human rights, and legal systems.
